One million dollars.     One ounce of talent.

In today's reality-TV-obsessed culture, we love watching wannabe stars fall on their collective faces almost as much as they crave these showcases for their shortcomings.

The film industry is not immune. They have their own television series in which aspiring directors (contest winners) are given a modest budget to make their first film in exchange for being documented by a video crew who will turn the inevitably heightened on-set drama and hilarity into a reality-TV show.

As an incentive to purchase the DVD of most any film, special features are offered, such as behind-the-scenes featurettes. These are usually just puff pieces to inflate the ego of the director beyond their already late-'70s-Elvis-size proportions, or to provide a mutual high-fiving society for the actors.

Our story is one such featurette for a movie created by one of these contest winners. What became of the actual film "Redlight" he was directing is a topic for another discussion. Apparently he blew the entire budget on "entertainment expenses" the first week and was forced to make compromises beyond his nonexistent abilities. The lengths he went to in disguising this fact from the reality-TV crew (the producers' on-set police/babysitters) were both psychologically disturbing and indicative of his complete lack of knowledge of film (or video in his case). Ultimately the creators removed their names from the finished product as damage control for future opportunities.

Fortunately, the documentary crew came to the rescue with some stunning and insightful (and hopefully legally-admissible) footage of these events, which we now present for your enjoyment.
